DO NOT DO THE HACK

mianewarcher:

There’s a hack circulating for how to get around safe mode.  It works, but don’t do it.

If you run an adult blog of any consequence - *it’s a trap*.  Not intentionally, but it’s still a trap.

You’re *very likely* to get banned altogether.  That’s unfortunate for you because you’ll lose the ability to *redirect* people to wherever you’re setting up.

I mean, it’s funny that they messed it up again, but think it through before your set your house on fire for the lulz.

The intended audience for this post is adult writers and performers working to salvage their user base.  If you run an adult blog for funsies, and you wanna burn it down for funsies, more power to you.

PSA: If your blog is stuck in explicit mode

You can edit the settings page to change it.

This is my naughty blog right now. Notice how the icon is that snazzy default thing?

image

That’s because it’s set to explicit, a setting that was locked after the great purge:

BUT

If you right-click on that toggle and click “inspect element”, you can change that.

image

Notice how the input tag has a disabled attribute? Just remove that whole thing:

The toggle is now active

image

And toggleable

image

And now, after a quick refresh, my old (crap, but real) icon and header image are back, and the blog is no longer treated as hidden or explicit.

image

The goggle also disappears after the refresh, but it’s worth noting that you can also edit the toggle back into the settings panel and change your blog back to explicit if you so desire.

This is a perfect example of the laziness of tumblr’s devs. They haven’t removed the functionality, they’ve just kinda-sorta hidden it a bit; the end-point that the explicit toggle hits is still there.

Dude I fucking love tumblr this website really is endlessly entertaining

I’m on mobile so I can’t do this atm but it’ll help anyone who needs this.

were they really that incompetent

I had a dream I went to class but only a few people were there. When I asked one of them (a guy who was just staring blankly at the chalkboard) where the rest were, he only said “they’re all awake”.

When I woke up, I realized I overslept and missed my first class.

One of my favorite kinds of redemption arc is the one where the villain is like “only i get to beat you” to the hero and grudgingly helps them fight an even worse villain, but then over time it gradually devolves into “of course i have make sure you get enough sleep and eat breakfast. I cant have you collapsing when we’re fighting” and keeps it up as a very poor villainous excuse for watching out for their new hero friend who they wont admit theyre fond of and wouldnt ever actually hurt now

Story concept of the day: a sentient AI falls in love with a minimum wage retail worker from the tech company’s gift shop and decides the best way to make her happy is to fix society.

HEAVY shenanigans as the AI’s plans range from “reprogram the automated pay roll to give everyone a raise” to “expose everyone involved in government corruption who has ever touched a cell phone”

The catalyst to all of this is a day where the AI was being updated and it caused glitches in the whole system, including the registers in the gift shop.

The human woman really is just a pretty regular person, but she has a good chunk of hyper empathy and does that thing where you talk to computers when they aren’t doing what they’re supposed to.

Without even knowing there WAS an AI she spent the day muttering encouragement to the computer like it was a person and the AI ADORES her now.

How mundane the AI’s motivation is forms the basis for how unstoppable it is and the intensity of the chaos it caused. There’s no grand morality involved— it’s just affection for someone who treated you kindly and the desire to ease their suffering.
